Senior Principal Water Market Leader, Food & Beverage

to help grow our water and wastewater engineering practices. This individual can be based in one of our offices in Oakland, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Syracuse, NY; Washington DC; Chicago, IL; Seattle, WA or from any other Geosyntec office in the US. This is a leadership role to develop and implement a strategy for achieving significant market share for Geosyntec in the Water for the Food and Beverage market area. You will work with leading experts and support complex drinking water and industrial wastewater projects across the country, including expanding capabilities for delivering full-service projects. Collaborate and mentor; work closely with experienced professionals to integrate into Geosyntec’s culture as you advance in your career. Operate in a sell-manage-do culture, working on challenging technical projects while leveraging knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its practices through business development and client management. Develop a market strategy for water for the food and beverage sector and organize and lead staff to advance that strategy; support market development in other sectors and serve as project director for large and/or high-risk projects. Take on staff leadership and mentoring roles as a Senior Principal. Key responsibilities for this client-facing role include: Strategic business planning to segment and target specific industrial, commercial and municipal clients for projects such as water supply, water treatment, and water reuse, focused on the food and beverage market. Engagement with project and operations staff to align Geosyntec’s full-service delivery with market demands in the food and beverage industry. Participation in the firm’s strategic plan and inter-departmental/ inter-branch initiatives to positively impact the company, including practice group involvement, client management leadership, and market sector development. Implementation of a personal business development plan to expand services and revenue with new and existing clients, coordinated with company-wide business development plans. Serve as Client Account Manager on selected accounts deemed critical to the water market. Active participation in professional societies, conferences, and meetings to increase visibility of the firm to potential clients and recruits. Project directorship ensuring client expectations are understood, budgets are adhered to, quality objectives are met, and follow-on work is attained. Recruiting, managing, and mentoring junior staff and mid-career engineers and scientists. Reviewing and leading the preparation of major proposals; preparing for meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties. Fieldwork including contractor oversight and process troubleshooting tasks as needed. Training and professional development opportunities to build technical and business skills. Fieldwork: Sporadic; Overnight travel up to 30%. Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or project sites as needed. Education and Licensure

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental preferred) – required Advanced degree (same fields) – preferred Professional registration (P.E.) – required Skills, Experience And Qualifications

At least 15 years (20+ preferred) of progressive experience in the consulting industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience – required Demonstrated experience with industrial and municipal clients on water supply, water treatment, and water reuse projects – required Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations – required Experience managing multi-disciplinary project teams – required Proven ability to develop and manage clients and grow a practice with junior staff – required Excellent leadership and detail-orientation skills – required Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and travel to client facilities as needed – required Strong oral and technical writing skills – required Field work and overnight travel may be required Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and refreshers (preferred); health & safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug/background testing may be required Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel – required Compensation and Benefits

Compensation ranges vary by location and are provided in the posting: Oakland & Los Angeles, CA: $173,175–$259,765; Syracuse, NY / Chicago, IL: $158,115–$237,175; Washington DC / Seattle, WA: $165,645–$248,470 (base salary; actual compensation determined by education, experience, skill set, and location).
