This individual can be based in Boise, ID, Phoenix, AZ, Pittsburgh, PA, Houston, TX, Atlanta, GA, Acton, MA, or from any other Geosyntec office in the US. This is a leadership role focused on developing and implementing a strategy to achieve significant market share in the Water for the Food & Beverage market, working with leading experts and expanding capabilities for delivering full-service projects across the country. Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec's culture. You will work closely with experienced professionals who will help integrate you into Geosyntec's culture as you advance in your career. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, so you will work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your knowledge to help Geosyntec expand its practices through business development and client management. You will be responsible for developing a market strategy for water for the food and beverage sector and organizing and leading staff to execute that strategy. You will also support market development in other sectors and serve as project director for large and/or high-risk projects. As a Senior Principal, you will take on staff leadership and mentoring roles. Key responsibilities for this client-facing position include: Strategic business planning to segment and target specific industrial, commercial and municipal clients for projects such as water supply, water treatment, and water reuse; focused on the food and beverage market. Engagement with project and operations staff to align Geosyntec's full-service delivery capabilities with market demands of the food and beverage industry, often embracing a full-service delivery mindset. Participation in the development and implementation of the firm's strategic plan and in cross-departmental initiatives that benefit the company, such as practice group involvement, client management leadership, market sector development, and providing business development or technical leadership to multiple offices or practice groups. Implementation of a personal business development plan to expand services and revenue with new and existing clients, coordinated with company-wide plans. Serve as Client Account Manager on selected accounts critical to the water market. Active participation in professional societies, conferences, and meetings to increase the firm’s visibility to potential clients and recruits, and make contributions to the profession as an industry leader. Project directorship, ensuring client expectations are understood and met, budgets are adhered to, quality objectives are met, and follow-on work is pursued. Recruiting, managing, and mentoring junior staff and mid-career engineers and scientists. Reviewing and leading major proposals, and preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and others. Occasional fieldwork including contractor oversight and process troubleshooting tasks. Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or project sites as needed. Education and Licensure
Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental preferred) — required. Advanced degree (same disciplines) — preferred. Professional registration (P.E.) — required. Skills, Experience and Qualifications
15+ years (20+ preferred) of progressive experience in the consulting industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience — required. Demonstrated experience with industrial and municipal clients on water supply, water treatment, and water reuse projects — required. Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations — required. Experience managing multi-disciplinary project teams — required. Proven ability to develop and manage clients and grow a practice with junior staff — required. Excellent leadership and detail-orientation — required. Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and travel to client facilities as needed — required. Strong oral and technical writing skills — required. Regular fieldwork and overnight travel — required. Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and refreshers — preferred. Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
