Overview
Verizon has a challenging opportunity for a Senior Engineer Architect with the ability to perform architecture design and implementation engineering duties. This Senior Engineer Architect will be a member of the team responsible for providing complete front-to-end engineering, implementation and support of solutions involving, but not limited to, WAN, LAN, Voice, Security and Virtual technologies. The candidate will have hands-on experience working with Enterprise multi-vendor networks and be able to transform complex problems into executable technology solutions. What you’ll be doing
Configure and troubleshoot a wide range of multi-vendor network equipment, including routing, switching, security, application delivery and network visibility products.
Provide architectural design and implementation engineering duties for solutions involving WAN, LAN, Voice, Security and Virtual technologies.
Document designs and communicate them to various audiences; work with minimal supervision on projects.
Multi-task and prioritize based on deliverable due dates; work in a multi-team environment.
Demonstrate an understanding of network security frameworks and Nessus Security Center.
Responsibilities may include:
Routing & Switching: Cisco and Juniper routers; Ciena aggregation switches
Security: Palo Alto, Cisco, and Juniper firewalls
Application Delivery: F5 Load Balancers
Network Visibility: Gigamon appliances
Provide technical support to the project planning team for design, development and implementation of proposals; offer Tier III technical support to Tier II for the above equipment and others.
Design, write and execute test plans on network elements using state-of-the-art test tools and hardware.
Write whitepapers, deliver presentations and demonstrations of solutions/processes in response to customer requirements/interest in new technologies/products.
Collaborate with internal system administrators (Windows and Linux) to prepare systems for operational use and assist with troubleshooting system issues.
May require after-hours support outside of normal business hours.

You’ll need to have
Bachelor\'s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Four or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.
Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation as a condition of employment.
Willingness to travel, if required.
Even better if you have one or more of the following
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with focus on Software, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or Network Technology.
Four or more years of network engineering experience.
Three or more years of systems integration and test experience.
Familiarity with vendor equipment including Cisco/Juniper routers, Gigamon appliances, Palo Alto/Cisco/Juniper firewalls, F5 or other load balancers, Arista Ethernet switches, and Ciena Aggregation switches.
Knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, VPN, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, L3VPN, IPsec, MACsec).
Ability to use scripting languages to create automated scripts for network configuration (e.g., Python, shell, bash, Ansible Playbooks).
Experience with test automation software and Linux operating systems; knowledge of Git.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work individually and in teams; ability to meet tight deadlines and multi-task in a changing environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational skills.
Strong work ethic and integrity.
