Network Administrator
Under general supervision, this position plans, organizes and directs data networks, including software and hardware, linking computer systems, telephone systems, and other electronic equipment. Reports to Chief Information Security Officer. Provides network environment technical support including installation, configuration and maintenance of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN) and wireless networks; researches, troubleshoots and resolves problems with connectivity; supports fiber-optic backbone for enterprise network integration; monitors network traffic and web filtering security operations, planning; and provides network support for blade servers and remote user connectivity. Installs new software and upgrades software for network operations; recommends advances in network technology to improve data and voice services; and designs and implements network topologies and configures equipment to provide optimum performance. Plans, prepares, and implements security plans for the network; administrates the firewall and other related security equipment; monitors the performance of all network segments; minimizes network delays and bottlenecks; and performs regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. Assists departments with network related needs analysis and makes recommendations, including cost analysis, for upgrades to include servers, antennas, cabling, or other hardware components, as well as new software and configurations. Assists with specialized network design. Performs other duties as assigned. Individual assignments will be determined by supervisor based on current workload and department needs. Has considerable knowledge of modern methods, concepts, practices, and principals related to the architecture, design, and integration of information systems and software applications. Knowledge of Enterprise system monitoring and management tools such as, Splunk, Wireshark, Palo Alto, NMAP, and SolarWinds. Knowledge of commercial enterprise-level tools and products to provide network services, including: firewalls, IPS/IDS, DNS, DHCP, web security, TACACS+, VPN and NAC. Knowledge of multiple computer languages. Thorough knowledge of leadership techniques, principles and procedures to assign, schedule, supervise, train and evaluate the work of assigned staff. Knowledge of office systems, practices and administration. Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or a related field or 2 - 4 years of in the support of network operating systems and related enterprise software, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree or additional certification in Network + or Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA), or Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP), or Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA) or Juniper Networks Certified Professional, or Aruba Certified Mobility Associate (ACMA) or Aruba Certified Mobility Professional (ACMP) or certification is desired. Requires a comprehensive background investigation to include a local, state and federal criminal history check. A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Serves on-call and may have to provide after-hours troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
