Overview
Lead Data & AI Architect for the Data Technology group within the Digital Engineering Solutions team at CDM Smith. Responsible for designing and delivering data and AI/ML architectures and solutions to enable self-serve BI and analytics for AEC professionals and client outcomes. The role involves providing architectural guidance, technology vision, and solution development, plus engaging in R&D and guidance for AEC practices across the firm. Responsibilities
Develop and design the architecture for data and AI solutions that are scalable, secure, and reliable. Engage with business units to understand requirements and translate them into technical designs. Create data and AI architectural solutions to complex architecture, engineering, and environmental science problems. Design and implement strategies to scale data and AI solutions across different business units. Produce detailed architecture and technical design documents for data and AI solutions. Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, data analysts, and stakeholders as part of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrate eagerness to learn and work across a global practice. Stay updated on new technologies, best practices, tools, and software applications and their potential impact on CDM Smith. Help develop documentation, standards, best practices, and workflows for data technology hardware/software used across the business. Present to external audiences as needed. Assist with marketing, communications, and business development descriptions and activities as needed. Assist with internal and external website descriptions as needed. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications
Bachelors degree. 8 years of related experience. Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency depends on duties and project needs. Job Details

Advanced understanding of data management lifecycle including governance, architecture, integration, metadata, quality, administration, security/operations, stewardship and MDM. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services and Databricks. Experience applying Azure well-architected framework to Data/AI solutions. Expert in developing highly complex data and AI architectures; strong problem-solving and curiosity. Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders. Innovative, with critical thinking to generate value-added solutions.
