Pediatric Licensed Practical Nurse – School Setting

Location: Pine Plains / Millbrook, NY
Rate: $40.00 – $42.00/hr.
Schedule: Weekdays, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Employment Type: Part-Time / Per-Diem

Are you a passionate caregiver who loves working with children and their families? Sunshine Homecare is seeking a dedicated Pediatric Nurse Licensed Practical Nurse to provide one-on-one school-based care.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct pediatric care during school hours

  • Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and therapies

  • Monitor and document health status throughout the day

  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies with appropriate interventions

  • Assist with devices such as feeding tubes, catheters, vents, and trachs (if needed)

  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and healthcare providers

  • Ensure compliance with the care plan and physician's orders

  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation

  • Adhere to infection control and safety procedures


Required Experience & Skills:
  • Hands-on pediatric care experience including:

    • G-Tube Feeding

    • Glucose Monitoring & Insulin Coverage

    • Catheterizations

    • Nebulizers

    • Epi-Pen Coverage

    • Supervision due to Epilepsy

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to remain calm in emergencies

  • Understanding of pediatric disease processes and medication interactions


Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program

  • Active New York State LPN license in good standing

  • Minimum 2 years pediatric nursing experience preferred

  • Current CPR certification

  • School or community health experience a plus


Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to remain on school premises for scheduled hours

  • Assist with student mobility and transfers

  • Lift/carry 20+ lbs. and medical equipment as needed
