Job Title: Senior Patient Registrar
Location: Flushing, NY 11355
Duration: 13 Weeks (Strong Possibility of Extension)
Schedule: Monday to Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Job Description:
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Patient Registrar to join a dynamic healthcare team in a fast-paced hospital environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in front-end medical office operations, exceptional communication skills, and a deep understanding of health insurance processes and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Register patients, including verifying and updating demographic and insurance information
- Accurately enter patient data into the EMR system
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, including managed care plans
- Collect co-pays and issue appropriate patient documentation
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance requirements, authorizations, and referrals
- Apply medical coding standards, including ICD-9 and CPT-4, when applicable
- Handle incoming calls professionally and provide prompt assistance
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to maintain smooth patient flow
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all relevant healthcare regulations
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Graduate of a Cardiovascular Ultrasound Program (Required)
- Minimum of 3 years of clerical experience in a medical office setting (Required)
- Data entry skills of at least 4,500 keystrokes per hour
- Proficiency in ICD-9 and CPT-4 medical coding
- Solid understanding of health insurance policies, authorizations, and managed care
- Strong customer service orientation and communication skills
- Experience with EMR systems (Required)
- Comfortable using phones, computers, and standard office equipment
