Youth Arts Academy Student Advisory Board Manager
The Youth Arts Academy (YAA) is a youth music studio that offers private music instruction, band and ensemble programs, school break camps, and community events primarily for youth ages 5 – 18. It operates as part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest San Diego. The Student Advisory Board (SAB) is a group of 8 students from grades 6 – 12. It is a program designed to allow students to become directly involved in shaping the success of the Youth Arts Academy. The Student Advisory Board is intended to encourage independence and self-sufficiency among its members. As manager of the Youth Arts Academy’s Student Advisory Board (SAB), volunteers will be tasked with overseeing a group of 8 students selected from the Youth Arts Academy to represent the studio. Their job is to delegate, provide guidance, and keep the group on track as they plan activities and events throughout the year. The primary responsibility will be overseeing hour-long board meetings every other Saturday from October 2025 – May 2026. Managers will lead these meetings with the help of the Board President and will be expected to assume more responsibility and independence as the year goes on. The SAB’s main focus is event planning. The board is tasked with planning at least one event or fundraiser per semester (fall and spring), for which they are given an unofficial $500 budget per semester for fundraising expenses. The events should be fairly small and either held at/around the studio or partnered with a nearby business, and be minimally complicated. The aim is to bring money into the program, not to spend more of it. For the full list of responsibilities, please express interest in this opportunity. Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes
