Turnberry is seeking a strategic and trend-savvy Director of Buying & Merchandising to lead the buying function across our luxury retail portfolio. This individual will own the vision and execution of seasonal product assortments, vendor partnerships, inventory optimization, and buying strategies that elevate the guest experience across our properties. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of fashion, beauty, and lifestyle trends, merchandising strategy, private label and product development and the nuances of operating within premium retail environments.

What You Do:

(Duties/Responsibilities)

Buying Strategy & Category Leadership Lead all aspects of the buying process including assortment planning, product selection, vendor negotiations, inventory investments, and financial forecasting. Design and implement standard operating procedures around OTB, inventory management, financial reporting and floorset strategies. Identify seasonal and evergreen product trends that resonate with our clientele across apparel, accessories, beauty, and home categories. Develop category-level strategies that optimize assortment productivity, reflect brand identity, and drive top-line growth. Maintain awareness of competitor strategies, aspirational brands, and guest expectations to continually enhance product curation. In-Store Merchandising Oversight

Create and implement visual merchandising standard operating procedures, create floorset templates, create visual merchandising calendar for each retail asset. Oversee execution of in-store merchandising strategies across all locations to ensure alignment with seasonal buys, product storytelling, and brand standards. Partner with store level management and property level management teams to create compelling, cohesive in-store experiences that reflect the curated assortment and drive conversion. Ensure that store layouts, product adjacencies, and display executions enhance customer engagement and maximize sales opportunities. Monitor visual presentation and product flow on the floor and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain a premium retail environment.

Financial Performance

Create and implement seasonal OTB planning, margin targets, and category-level sales goals. Create and implement inventory management, sales and allocation reporting. Partner with Finance on hindsight reviews, SKU productivity, and vendor scorecarding. Monitor and react to in-season sales trends to optimize inventory turn, reduce markdown risk, and capitalize on high-performing products. Create and implement reporting tools to inform future buys and adjust strategies to maximize performance. Vendor Relations & Brand Curation

Build and maintain strong relationships with brand partners, vendors, and agents to secure premium product access, exclusives, and favorable terms. Continually source and introduce new brands aligned with our clientele and brand ethos. Negotiate pricing, delivery, and product flow in alignment with inventory and revenue goals. Team Leadership & Development

Lead and inspire a small high-performing store management and property level management team. Provide training, development, and mentorship opportunities to support career growth. Foster a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and commercial awareness. What You Bring to the Table:

(Requirements)

8-10+ years of experience in buying, merchandising, or category management, ideally within fashion, beauty, or lifestyle retail. Strong track record of creating and implementing reporting across all buying functions (buying, planning, inventory management). Experience in luxury or experiential environments with an understanding of elevated customer expectations. Deep knowledge of market trends, product lifecycles, and the art/science of product curation. Proven track record of driving sales growth through assortment strategy and vendor negotiation. Strong financial acumen with experience owning P&L responsibilities, OTB management, and seasonal planning. Highly collaborative with demonstrated success working cross-functionally with Planning, Visual, Marketing, and Operations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to present to senior leadership. Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Business, Fashion, or related field preferred. Ability to travel up to 30% to stores, market appointments, and trade shows. Strong proficiency in Excel, merchandising tools, and reporting systems.
