A thriving company is seeking a dynamic and experienced Workwear Apparel Merchandise Manager to lead strategy, execution, and team performance for its high-margin apparel division. This role is responsible for overseeing 8 buyers across categories such as men's and women's workwear, footwear, kidswear, and fashion accessories. The ideal candidate will combine a deep understanding of retail apparel buying programs with strong analytical and leadership skills to guide a high-performing team, optimize seasonal planning, and drive growth across 55+ stores. They are looking for a numbers-driven leader with hands-on experience managing multiple product categories who thrives in a fast-paced, vendor-heavy retail environment and understands rural customer preferences.
Workwear Apparel Merchandise Manager Responsibilities: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 8 buyers across multiple apparel-related categories Develop and execute strategic merchandise plans that align with company goals Analyze inventory performance and implement replenishment and markdown strategies Meet regularly with vendors to negotiate buys, review assortment, and finalize size distributions Oversee seasonal product planning and ensure accuracy and timeliness of Q4 and other key assortments Ensure a "good, better, best" product mix that reflects the workwear-focused customer base Collaborate with planning, marketing, and store operations to ensure merchandise success across all 55+ stores Provide forecasting and performance reporting to executive leadership Adapt strategies to meet the needs of customers from the Pacific Northwest to the Southwestern U.S Workwear Apparel Merchandise Manager Requirements:
5+ years of progressive retail buying/merchandise management experience with supervisory responsibility over multiple categories Proven experience managing a team of buyers or category managers Strong knowledge of retail apparel-especially workwear or performance wear Background in companies like Costco, Target, Walmart, Big 5, or other value-tier retailers is ideal Excellent analytical, negotiation, and inventory management skills ERP experience, Epicor preferred Must reside in or willing to relocate to Ammon, ID Background in or appreciation for rural/regional retail markets Experience in workwear apparel or western/performance wear categories is preferred Experience working in multi-region, multi-store environments Bilingual in Spanish is a plus Benefits:
