Key Responsibilities: Facilitate clear and accurate sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events Collaborate closely with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure educational goals are met Support students in understanding instructional materials and participating fully in academic and extracurricular activities Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards for interpreters in educational settings Participate in ongoing training to stay current with best practices and language proficiency Qualifications: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated experience interpreting in K-12 educational environments Certification or credentials in sign language interpretation preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with educational teams and students Ability to adapt interpretation techniques to meet diverse student needs Reliability and professionalism in a dynamic school setting Location: Position based in Joliet, Illinois This opportunity allows an experienced interpreter to contribute meaningfully to a supportive and inclusive school community, enabling equitable access to learning for all students.
