The Business Analyst role bridges business stakeholders, data science, enterprise architecture, and compliance to translate business objectives into well-defined Gen AI use cases, requirements, processes, and measurable outcomes. This position is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and translating business requirements into actionable insights and technical specifications for the AI team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of P&C insurance operations and demonstrate the ability to collaborate across departments to optimize business processes and support data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Use case discovery and prioritization
Elicit and document business needs across underwriting, claims, operations, distribution, risk engineering, and finance for GenAI applications (e.g., document intelligence, triage, fraud detection, submission intake, pricing support, claims leakage detection, subrogation, generative AI knowledge retrieval
Define problem statements, hypotheses, success criteria, and expected business value; develop business cases with cost/benefit, feasibility, risks, and dependencies.
Facilitate prioritization with product owners and stakeholders, balancing impact, complexity, and compliance considerations.
Requirements and design
Produce clear business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps (current/future state), data requirements, and non-functional requirements (performance, resiliency, privacy
Develop functional specifications and product requirements documents in alignment with enterprise architecture and security standards.
Delivery, testing, and release
Manage backlogs, epics, and user stories in Agile tools, support sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
Define and execute test plans: functional testing, UAT, integration testing, A/B testing, and shadow/pilot validation; document results and signoffs.
Coordinate release readiness, cutover plans, and hyper care with product, engineering, and operations teams.
AI governance, risk, and compliance
Document model cards, intended use, limitations, guardrails, and human oversight controls, support privacy impact assessments and security reviews.
Track and escalate model changes, incidents, and exceptions; maintain audit-ready documentation.
Adoption, change management, and training
Develop adoption plans, training materials, and communications; conduct demonstrations and user training for underwriting and claims teams.
Define operating procedures and human-in-the-loop checkpoints; capture user feedback and drive iterative improvements.
Coordinate with business leaders to embed GenAI outputs into decision workflows and performance management.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within the P&C insurance sector.
Demonstrated experience working with GenAI, data analytics, or technology-driven projects.
Very good knowledge of LLM capabilities and limitations
Experience implementing LLMs in agents or other automation
Experience rolling out GenAI across an organization
Strong understanding of insurance products, underwriting, claims, and risk management processes.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Proficient in business analysis tools, process mapping, and project management methodologies.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience with data visualization
