OKLAHOMA COUNTY DISTRICT 3 PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

  • In the performance of their respective tasks and duties, all team members are expected to meet the following requirements:
  • Consistent, on-time presence at the designated worksite for a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Requires 24/7 on-call availability for emergencies.
  • Work cooperatively with all members of the District 3 Highway Department.
  • Manage workload, ensuring quality and timely completion, while maintaining effective communication and collaboration with team members.
  • Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with team members, and management.
  • Demonstrate honesty, trustworthiness, dependability, and flexibility.

Position Purpose

Drives truck equipped with dump body to transport and dump loose materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock or bituminous paving materials. Class A drivers must know how to load equipment and to tie down appropriately. Facilitates movement of equipment using various tilt deck and lowboy trailers. Drives other vehicles and/or configurations as assigned and trained. Ability to drive all vehicle types.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform daily truck equipment inspections and all required safety equipment before each shift to ensure equipment is safe for usage.
  • Document and submit requests for maintenance for any repair items to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains truck logs or time recordings as required by state, federal, and county policies and regulations.
  • Assist with proper and legal loading of materials for transport as designated by crew chief.
  • Operate truck safely to and from project destination. Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
  • Occasionally set tailgate chains for measured spreading delivery.
  • Position blocks and/or tarps to secure load for transit.
  • Loads, Unloads, and secures equipment on various trailer types. Secures equipment using various chains, ratchets and binders.
  • Comply with driving rules and regulations (traffic laws/ DOT regulations) as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Performs post trip vehicle inspections of vehicles driven, equipment moved, and trailers towed, noting any defects or deficiencies in writing. Written inspections are turned in to designated personnel. Have unsafe vehicles removed for use with shop foreman’s directions.
  • Performs all safety procedures required by governmental agencies and those established by Oklahoma County.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • May be sent to other facility locations and operations to perform duties as required.
  • Overall responsibility for the condition of their vehicle such as cleaning, spray protectant, routine maintenance and inspection, etc.
  • Understanding of directions/GPS usage
  • Report any violations to supervisor
  • Completion of all team tasks, not limited to truck driving.
  • Awareness of surrounding equipment, vehicles, pedestrians, objects, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience

Must possess at least a minimum of 3 plus years of demonstrated experience, and/or truck driving training; or an equivalent combination of demonstrated experience and training/education. Must possess a valid Class A Oklahoma State Commercial Driver’s License (CDL); related endorsements such as HAZMAT and Tanker will be required for specific roles. A safe driving record is required.
