The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board is seeking a full-time Human Resources Technician to provide vital administrative support to our Human Resources department. In this role, you'll be part of a team that values excellence, integrity, and a customer-focused approach.

Typical schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm.

What You Will Do

As a full-time Human Resources Technician, you'll be at the center of our team, providing a welcoming and supportive experience for applicants, employees, and visitors. You'll handle a variety of responsibilities—from responding to HR inquiries and drafting correspondence to preparing reports and keeping our filing systems organized. You'll also play a vital part in safeguarding confidential information while ensuring accuracy in our HRIS and ATS systems. Qualifications and Skills

  • One year of administrative support experience in a Human Resources office, including processing employment records and maintaining confidentiality in daily tasks and interactions with the public and employees. Strong computer skills are essential (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to navigate HRIS and ATS systems.
  • Attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and a strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Experience in handling employment records with accuracy and discretion.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Additional Requirements

  • The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
