Overview

Excel as a Technology Reviewer on DCSA’s Cyber Operational Readiness Assessment (CORA) Team. Conduct advanced security assessments using STIGs, provide expert analysis, and strengthen national cyber defense. The duties below describe responsibilities of an IT Cybersecurity Specialist responsible for performing assessments, evaluating risks, and documenting security postures in line with DoD policies.

Duties

  • Perform assessments/inspections/reviews at contractor facilities in accordance with established DoD policies that include industrial security procedures, systems, standards, and regulations governing the safeguarding of classified information.
  • Evaluate technical & operational risks/vulnerabilities in IT environments: networks, systems, applications, & infrastructure. Identify weaknesses to protect assets.
  • Review authorization and assurance documents to confirm that the level of risk is within acceptable limits for each software application, system, and network.
  • Provide an accurate technical evaluation of the software application, system, or network, documenting the security posture, capabilities, and vulnerabilities against relevant cybersecurity compliances.

  • Position is a DCIPS Excepted Service position
  • Work Schedule: Full Time; Overtime: Occasionally; Telework eligibility as determined by policy
  • Relocation expenses: May be reimbursed per agency policy
  • Education/Certification requirements per DoD Cyber Workforce Framework; specialized certifications or training may be required within stated timelines
  • Obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance as indicated
  • Specific DoD certifications (e.g., Cyber Workforce Framework) may be required within designated timelines

Qualifications

Basic IT-related experience demonstrating the four competencies below (for GS-5 through GS-15 level). Agencies determine exact proficiency levels per role.

Specialized Experience for GG-13 Includes: using STIGs to assess networks, endpoints, vulnerabilities; risk assessments; preparing audit reports with remediation; applying risk management processes.

Specialized experience for GG-13 also includes evaluation of security posture across IT domains and ability to perform impact and risk assessments.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
