SUMMARY

A Security dispatcher, also known as an emergency dispatcher, receives emergency and non-emergency calls from staff, patients and/or visitors quickly assesses the situation, determines the appropriate response based on location and emergency type, and relays critical information to the relevant Security Officer(s), all while maintaining composure in high-stress situations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Answering emergency calls: Receiving incoming calls from various sources like phone, or alarm systems or other communications technologies.

Gathering information: Asking clarifying questions to determine the nature of the emergency, location and any critical details.

Dispatching Security Officer(s): Sending the appropriate emergency response Security Officers to the scene based on the situation.

Maintaining logs: Accurately recording call details and dispatch information on a computer-aided dispatch system and/or Security Logbook.

Monitoring radio traffic: Staying updated on the status of dispatched Security Officer(s) and coordinating responses, with additional Security Officer(s).

Monitoring Video Surveillance System: Maintain visual awareness of video surveillance system for identified critical locations throughout multiple campuses.

Monitoring Alarm System: Maintain acute awareness of AnMed’s infant abduction system and panic alarms throughout multiple campuses.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduate

Excellent communication skills: Ability to communicate with callers clearly and calmly in stressful situations.

Decision-making ability: Quickly assess emergency situations and make appropriate dispatch decisions under pressure.

Multitasking: Handle multiple calls and situations simultaneously while maintaining focus.

Geographical knowledge: Familiarity with multiple campuses, and locations within each campus.

Technical proficiency: Efficiently operate dispatch systems, video surveillance system, access control system and radio equipment

Calm demeanor: Remain composed and professional even when dealing with distressed or agitated callers.

Empathy and compassion: Understand the seriousness of emergency situations and provide emotional support when needed.

Attention to detail: Accurately record all relevant information to ensure proper response.

Ability to work under pressure: Perform effectively in fast-paced and high-stress environments.
