The Multispecialty Sonographer performs any combination of basic to advanced ultrasound services and procedures for patients, which may include: abdominal, Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal and small parts. Essential Functions Of The Role: Performs multiple specialty ultrasound procedures utilizing a variety of equipment and techniques and makes the necessary measurements required for the interpretation to yield accurate and high-quality results. Identifies and defines abnormalities specific to the procedure and extends the scope of the examination appropriately. Prepares patients for procedures and obtains clinical history from the patient including related physical findings and pertinent laboratory data. Explains the purpose of the ultrasound examination to the patient and answers questions. Records statistics and performs daily maintenance of the ultrasound Lab and its equipment. Acts as a resource to team members, physicians and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures, and studies. Works closely with ultrasound team members to ensure quality processes and adherence to protocols. Assures operation of equipment by performing quality checks following manufacturer's recommendations. Key Success Factors: Must be familiar with approved clinical protocols for each type of ultrasound examination. Must meet all qualifications and requirements for any two of the following specialties: Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, or small parts. Knowledge of relevant anatomy and physiology for each different specialty. Knowledge of proper infection control, including precautionary procedures. Ability to interact and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Skilled in the utilization of computers and medical equipment. Able to serve as trainer by providing quality training to new team members. Qualifications: Education - Grad of an Accredited Program or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification. Experience - 2 Years of Experience. Certification/License/Registration: Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer. Must have TWO of the following: Adv Cardiac Sonographer (ACS), ARRT-S Sonography, ARRT-VI Interventional Rad, Musculoskeletal Sonography, Reg Congenital Cardiac Sono, Registered Cardiac Sonographer, Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer, Ped. Echocardiography, Reg Diag Med Sono-Abdomen, Reg Diag Med Sono-Breast, RDMS Fetal Echocardiography, Reg Diag Med Sono-OB/GYN, RDMS-Pediatric Sonography, Registered Vascular Sonographer, Registered Vascular Tech.
