Overview
Location: Lyons, NY (On-Site). Duration: 1 Year (with 4 Option Years). Work Schedule: Approximately 8 hours per week. Work Arrangement: On-site medical director services with coordination responsibilities. Client seeks a qualified and licensed physician to serve as
Medical Director , providing clinical leadership, policy oversight, and coordination of medical services in accordance with NYSDOH, CMS, and all applicable federal and state regulations. The Medical Director will play a critical role in ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, and ongoing improvement in clinical and operational performance. To provide clinical leadership, guidance, and oversight to ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care in a safe, compliant, and compassionate long-term care environment.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Oversight: Develop, review, and implement policies related to resident care and clinical practice.
Coordinate and monitor the medical care provided to residents.
Attend bi-monthly Medical Advisory Committee meetings and quarterly Executive QA Committee meetings.
Provider Coordination
Oversee credentialing, compliance, and performance review of physicians, dentists, and podiatrists practicing in the facility.
Monitor adherence to medical standards and best practices across all providers.
Quality & Safety
Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs.
Review infection control reports, sentinel events, and trends in clinical quality indicators.
Lead or contribute to staff education programs on clinical and regulatory topics.
Clinical Support
Serve as the physician of record for respite residents as needed.
Provide second opinions and geriatric consultations upon request.
Ensure physician coverage during temporary vacancies or emergencies.
Administrative Engagement
Meet with facility administration at least every six months to assess program effectiveness and respond to operational needs.
Assist in developing a responsive and evidence-based medical program.
Employee Physical Exams
Conduct pre-employment physical examinations for new staff as part of monthly services.
Mandatory Qualifications
Licensed physician in good standing in the state of New York.
Demonstrated experience in nursing home, long-term care, or geriatric medicine (strongly preferred).
Knowledge of CMS and NYSDOH regulations; Infection control protocols and QAPI standards.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, residents, and families.
Commitment to ethical medical practice and compliance with professional codes of conduct.
