Overview
CT Technologist PRN - Atrium Health Waxhaw. The CT Technologist I performs CT procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards, operating CT scanners and related equipment with a high level of proficiency. Atrium Health Waxhaw Emergency Department provides 24-hour emergency medical services to the Waxhaw area, supported by Atrium Health Union and Carolinas Medical Center. The facility offers emergency care for a range of conditions and is backed by a Level I Trauma Center network. Responsibilities
Examine requests and verify orders; refer and question orders to the Radiologist before performing exams. Contact the ordering provider when there are discrepancies. Identify patients using two identifiers and prepare them for procedures with a full explanation; document appropriately. Interview patients for complete medical history and review EMR data (in-patient, ER, and out-patient) to obtain pertinent clinical history; correlate other test results and laboratory data with the exam. Assume responsibility for the exam from start to finish and ensure dictated results are completed. Prepare and administer IV contrast per departmental protocols; record contrast type and amount when requested. Evaluate technical quality of images and consult with Radiologist as needed; recognize abnormal anatomy and process additional images or measurements as instructed. Perform basic patient care, monitor patient condition, initiate life support if necessary, and assist in code blue procedures during emergencies. Perform CT scanning and assist Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures; maintain sterile technique and follow infection control policies. Obtain medications or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner. Practice radiation safety for self, staff, patients, and visitors; follow radiation safety standards. Report malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager and clinical engineering/radiology engineer. Maintain safety knowledge to work in environments with exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease. Adhere to fire and safety procedures; attend in-service trainings and safety modules. Work accurately and timely during crises; rotate shifts as required, including call back, holidays, and weekends; adhere to attendance policies. Operate radiology computer systems, enter orders, and document contrasts in the MAR. Maintain a neat, stocked, and clean work area; assist other medical personnel when performing CT-related exams or services. Assist anesthesia when performing exams or services in conjunction with CT scans. Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology. ARRT certification in Radiology, or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine, and ARRT advanced registry in CT within one year of hire; current CPR certification.
