Atrium Health Providence Emergency Department , a facility of Atrium Health Pineville, provides 24-hour emergency medical services to the South Charlotte area. From broken bones and severe cuts to heart attacks and strokes, we provide patients of all ages the highest level of emergency care. Our staff includes doctors board-certified in emergency medicine, with support from Atrium Healthu2019s Carolinas Medical Center. The CT Technologist I performs procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Operates CT scanners and related equipment with proficiency, including scanner, post-processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, oxygen and suction equipment, patient transport and patient monitoring equipment. Essential Functions
Reviews requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient; refers and questions orders to the Radiologist before performing the exam. Contacts the ordering provider if there are discrepancies. Identifies patients using two identifiers and explains procedures; prepares patients for procedures and documents appropriately. Interviews patients for medical history; reviews EMR for in-patients, ER, and outpatients; records medical history on requisitions; correlates other test results with the exam. Assumes responsibility for the exam from start to completion of dictated results. Prepares and administers IV contrast per departmental protocols; records contrast type and amount as requested. Evaluates image quality and consults with Radiologist as needed; recognizes abnormal anatomy and processes additional images/measurements as instructed. Performs basic patient care; notifies nursing of changes in condition; may assist in life support and code blue procedures during emergencies. Performs CT scanning and assists Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures; maintains sterile technique as required. Obtains medications or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner. adheres to radiation safety standards and reports equipment malfunctions to supervisors and clinical engineering. Maintains knowledge to work safely in an environment with exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease; follows fire and safety procedures; completes safety training. Works accurately and promptly in crisis situations; rotates shifts as required including call back, holidays, and weekends; adheres to attendance policy. Operates radiology computer systems, enters orders, and charges procedures/supplies; documents contrast administration in the MAR. Maintains a clean, stocked, and orderly work area; assists other medical personnel during exams or services in conjunction with a CT scan. Physical Requirements
Requires moderate to heavy physical effort lifting and moving of patients, equipment and supplies. Occasional standing, walking, and sitting. May require bending, twisting, kneeling, or squatting. May be exposed to various physical conditions; must follow radiation safety guidelines to prevent exposure. Education, Experience and Certifications
Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology. ARRT certification in Radiology or NMTCB in Nuclear Medicine, and ARRT advanced registry in CT within one year of hire, in addition to current CPR certification. Pay Range
