Summary

The Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE) Network Administrator - Nightwatch ensures 24/7 network availability on the Navy Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN). Working within the Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC), you will operate, maintain, and troubleshoot multi-classification LAN, WAN, and VPN infrastructure. This position follows a Panama shift schedule (6 PM-6 AM), rotating long and short weeks to provide continuous coverage. there will need to be a w illingness to work evening, night, and weekend shifts,

Ensures rapid response to network incidents, minimizing downtime and preserving operational tempo. Maintains cyber resilience and compliance across multiple classification levels, safeguarding sensitive data.

What you will do

Maintain uninterrupted operation of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and virtual private networks (VPN). Plan, evaluate, and coordinate installation or reconfiguration of data and voice communication hardware/software. Troubleshoot network connectivity issues-WAN circuits, equipment failures, router/switch configurations, firewall access control lists, VoIP device registration, and cryptographic device keying. Coordinate with Navy, DISA, and commercial carriers for circuit implementation and fault resolution. Ensure Information Assurance compliance through IOS upgrades, device configuration changes, and firewall ACL verifications. Monitor network performance and conduct short- and long-range capacity planning. Develop and maintain network documentation and standard operating procedures. Propose cost-effective network design enhancements based on current usage and future requirements. Coordinate third-party maintenance and restoration support at remote sites.

Required Credentials

U.S. Citizen Current or active DoD Secret security clearance (maintainable) CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent/higher certification (meets DoD 8570.1-M and SECNAV M-5239.2 IAT-II requirements)

Preferred Requirements

Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline Hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting WAN/LAN equipment (routers, switches, multiplexers) and circuits Proficiency configuring and troubleshooting ASA firewall ACLs Packet-level troubleshooting skills using protocol analyzers, sniffers, NetFlow, and log analysis In-depth knowledge of Cisco internetworking (IP addressing, VLANs, VTP, 802.1q, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, PIM, multicast) and Cisco IOS Familiarity with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for network devices Experience in a Network Operations Center or help-desk environment, including ticketing and customer communications Exposure to network and performance monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds) Background with Cisco VoIP (Power-over-Ethernet switches, Call Manager) Experience with NSA Type 1 cryptographic devices (KG-175D, KG-75

Physical Requirements

Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment. Ability to remain alert and productive throughout the night shift.
