Job Summary
A network associate plays a key role in maintaining and supporting an organization's computer networks. They assist in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of network hardware and software, ensuring reliable connectivity and performance. They monitor network activity, resolve user issues, and implement security measures to protect data and systems. Working under the guidance of network engineers or administrators, they support LANs, WANs, and other networking infrastructure.
Essential Functions 20% - Network Installation and Configuration: Setting up and configuring routers, switches, firewalls, and other network hardware.
20% - Monitoring and Maintenance: Continuously monitoring network performance, identifying issues, and performing routine maintenance.
20% - Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues across LANs, WANs, and wireless networks.
10% - Security Implementation: Supporting the implementation of network security protocols and tools.
10% - Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of network configurations, changes, incidents, and procedures.
10% - User Support: Assisting end-users with network access issues, VPN connections, and related technical problems.
10% - Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology or related field, OR an equivalent combination of degree, education, certification, and directly related full-time work experience sufficient to perform the essential duties.
Desired Qualifications
Experience installing and troubleshooting physical copper and fiber optic wiring Experience configuring and troubleshooting network switches, routers, and firewalls; Cisco experience preferred Experience deploying and troubleshooting Wireless networks; Meraki experience preferred Previous experience in a Higher Education environment IT industry certifications (e.g., CCENT, CCNA, CCNP, Network+, A+, etc.)
Special Working Conditions Valid Arizona Class D driver’s license required; driving standards per MCCCD policy
Travel to campus locations may be required; interview travel at candidate's expense
May require travel to all MCCCD locations
Evenings or weekends may be required
Prolonged computer screen viewing
May lift or carry up to 50 lbs
