Position Summary The Program Medical Director has oversight responsibility for the Hospitalist Program at the site they direct. They report directly to the VP of Hospital Medicine and are responsible for all quality outcomes and clinical performance of their Hospitalist Program. The director collaborates with the MVHN Chief Medical Officer and Associate Chief Nursing Officer to meet organizational goals, leading initiatives to deliver patient-centered, high-quality, equitable, and cost-effective care.
Scope and Responsibilities Management and Oversight
Manage financial and quality performance of the Hospitalist Program.
Oversee operations, staffing, HR issues, budgeting, clinical performance, strategic planning, and recruitment.
Mentor hospitalists and APP staff, ensuring contract and performance metric compliance.
Develop strategic plans for clinical initiatives, education, care standards, and patient flow.
Ensure adequate staffing to maintain patient safety and budgetary compliance.
Participate in hiring, monitor compensation, and establish staffing guidelines.
Implement and monitor physician compensation and bonus plans.
Lead technology adoption to support clinical excellence.
Financial Oversight
Recommend annual budgets, monitor performance, and suggest adjustments.
Optimize revenue cycle processes for maximum reimbursement.
Support financial infrastructure development.
Patient Experience
Set and maintain goals for quality, safety, and satisfaction.
Standardize hospitalist services across the health system based on evidence-based practices.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives focusing on clinical outcomes and hospital throughput.
Develop plans for patient experience and provider satisfaction.
Align clinical quality goals with hospital leadership.
Qualifications
MD or DO degree, board-certified in IM or FM.
Unrestricted Ohio medical license.
Leadership and management experience preferred.
Experience in quality improvement and financial decision-making.
Active or pending privileges at MVH sites.
