Performs a variety of routine and specialized technical procedures. Performs examinations in accordance with the established CT protocols and procedures. Ensures a smooth operational and productive workflow; and other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology
One year of related experience preferred
Health Care Provider CPR certification
Licensure from the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as a Medical Radiation Technologist
Registered or registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Advanced certification in CT is preferred
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Demonstrates clinical competence in all section protocols established by the radiologists. Applies detailed knowledge of anatomy in order to produce images of high quality.
Assists in mentoring of new technologists and other support staff.
Pleasantly greets and introduces self to patients, verifies their identification and the correctness of the examination to be performed.
Explains examination to the patient and family, if present.
Ensures any required consent forms are signed prior to the examination.
Prepares contrast media and administers it to the patient either intravenously or through other body cavities. Always assesses the patient’s condition prior to administering a contrast media or performing the CT examination.
Positions patient for the proper CT examination and instructs patient as to the proper physiological requirements for the procedure.
Performs CT examinations as prescribed by a physician.
Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding devices. Provides patient safety and protection in accordance with federal and state regulatory agencies, accreditation agencies and health care organizations.
