The Senior Manager, Vendor Strategy Management plays a key role within the Vendor Strategy and Operations department. This position provides oversight and support to the study teams and their CROs/vendors. The Senior Manager works with internal and external partners to ensure the study teams and CRO/vendors deliver on-time, successful, and safe clinical trials, while establishing high levels of performance oversight and escalation.
This position reports to the Associate Director, Vendor Strategy Management and can be performed remotely within the US.
What Youll Do:
Support the strategic direction for CROs and preferred clinical trial vendor providers used in all clinical trials supported by Clinical Operations. Lead the development and implementation of vendor performance and governance programs, including KPIs, OKMs, Key Risk Indicators, and effective vendor oversight to ensure high-quality clinical trial services globally. Align CRO/vendor efforts with program and corporate goals and drive operational efficiencies. Support preferred CRO and vendor partnerships and maintain relationships with external providers. Lead governance forums (Joint Operating Committees, Executive Steering Committees, etc.) across clinical trial vendors (CRO, central lab, imaging service providers). Be accountable for CRO and ancillary vendor performance, ensuring issues surrounding performance and quality are clearly understood and addressed. Communicate portfolio-level CRO/vendor risks or issues to relevant departments and follow through to resolution. Support the timely execution of vendor contracts in collaboration with Clinical Operations study teams, Procurement, Legal, and Finance, overseeing agreements, work orders, and change orders. Serve as an escalation point for CRO and key vendor relationships, addressing and escalating performance issues and identifying mitigation strategies. Lead the development and implementation of CRO/vendor initiatives. Participate in vendor sourcing activities as applicable. Support Deciphera Clinical Operations and CRO/vendors during regulatory inspections and preparations. What Youll Bring:
Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of experience in a matrix biotech organization, including a minimum of 3 years in vendor management with clinical vendors in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and multi-tasking skills. Ability to interface effectively with vendors, collaborators, internal departments, and all management levels. Understanding of Clinical/Drug Development and familiarity with Regulatory Guidelines including ICH GCP. Previous experience working with clinical operations and finance is preferred. Willingness to travel up to 20%. Additional Information:
