Coordinate and participate in a variety of technical procedures to include in vivo and in vitro studies; operate radiation detection and measurement instrumentation, including stationary imaging devices and scintillation gamma equipment. Calibrate radiopharmaceutical materials for administration to patients; formulate radiopharmaceutical materials from pre-prepared kits; calibrate instruments and review calibration data to detect trends indicating instrument malfunction. Calculate data from patient studies and radioactive decay; evaluate recorded images for technical quality; process computer-ized image data including function curves and reconstructed SPECT images. Provide patient care for physical and psychological needs during examinations; initiate life support measures if necessary. Maintain inventory of supplies; maintain records for radiopharmaceutical receiving, dispensing, and disposal activities; monitor department records for brachytherapy procedures and radioactive material handling. Provide instruction and technical guidance to radiologic technology students or other advanced imaging staff; assist in training new employees; monitor department safety for contamination with portable survey meters. Assist in development and evaluation of new procedures; consult with physicians on applications of nuclear medicine procedures and techniques. Administer thyroid therapy under supervision, ensure correct dosage using dosimetry calculations and decay of pharmaceuticals; observe patient dosage for proper treatment under radiologist supervision. Assist in quality assurance related to calibration and maintenance of equipment; contribute to education and training of physicians (interns, residents, fellows) as applicable. Other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Ability to use office-related computer software; knowledge of radiation protection and safety; general computer knowledge; IV placement and management skills. Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate or completion of a program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification, or currently holds required registry/certification. Experience: None required beyond above education/certification requirements; Level I must obtain ARRT or NMCTB certification within 18 months; Level II minimum of two years; Level III minimum of four years in the specialty. Certifications: ARRT (N) and/or NMTCB within 18 months of employment; BLS certification.
