The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising, labor management, and planning of inbound, outbound, product slotting and customer communication activities daily, including labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower. Responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues and resolving problems. Under the direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for supervising the receiving, warehousing and shipping of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. As part of the DSV team, associates are expected to meet company objectives in performance, safety and quality and comply with all corporate and site-specific policies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan and assure continuous improvement. Effectively keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues that affect the operations. Develop systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably; manage operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals; comply with client operating agreements. Implement and report on-going cost-saving measures; provide ideas for more efficient operations. Meet all client specified KPIs and comply with Quality system requirements. Manage operations to achieve prescribed objectives; supervise, counsel, and where needed discipline team members; provide direction and support to Human Resources; assist in hiring, training, and professional development; participate in performance evaluations for promotions and wage decisions. Oversee training and evaluation of warehouse staff; plan daily work schedules; assess priorities; assign duties; review pending jobs and reorganize space as needed. Train new staff or delegate training to experienced team members; monitor progress and adjust duties as appropriate. Maintain awareness of job quantity and quality; provide guidance as necessary. Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members and keep management informed of progress or problems. Lead regular meetings with warehouse staff; discuss improvements and keep staff informed of developments. Assist in physical operations as needed. Deliver results by leveraging the right people at the right time; motivate team members to provide high levels of customer satisfaction; support growth and development opportunities; conduct annual performance reviews; adhere to SOPs. Support and train team members with adherence to SOPs (corporate and client). Skills & Abilities
Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED. 3 years of experience in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment. 1 year of supervisory experience. Preferred: prior MHE certification or knowledge of basic MHE operation. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations: Forklift training certification (satisfactory completion). Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). RF Scanners, WMS functions. Language Skills: English (reading, writing, verbal). Business communication. Mathematical Skills: Basic to intermediate level to verify quantities, count inventory, and perform other duties. Other Skills: Strong attention to detail, accuracy and timely task completion. Good organizational and personnel skills; strong written and verbal communication; leadership and planning abilities. Flexible schedules, including nights and weekends as required by the operation. Cross-training across multiple areas/departments with opportunity to back-up when needed. Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Work Environment and Physical Demands: Work environment typically low to moderate noise; occasional exposure to warehouse temperatures; overtime may be required as dictated by business needs. Physical demands include bending, walking, standing, sitting; lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds, reaching above shoulder, kneeling or squatting as needed. Work Environment
