This is a challenging role that relies on your ability to lead and collaborate across internal and external teams to monitor excellence in data use, strategy, structures and modernization efforts into new platforms, processes and technology stacks. As part of the Strategic Data Management (SDM) team, this position leads and guides the OptumHealth Business Operations data strategy and modernization efforts across Home and Community, creating a scalable, standard approach and ensuring alignment with stakeholders including Tech Partners, Product, Compliance, Privacy, Legal, Security and Enterprise data efforts and strategy. This role administers all aspects of the Data Lifecycle Management process related to data standards, data documentation/lineage, data models, HealthCare Industry standards, and metrics on the data ecosystem to enable teams to execute with patients, members, clients and operational units in mind. You will work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. and collaborate with Enterprise groups in various processes/architecture approaches to ensure data initiatives align with growth and enterprise needs. Primary Responsibilities Partner closely with the VP of SDM to craft and communicate the data vision and strategies for Home and Community, securing buy-in at all organizational levels and representing the voice of our business and data consumers Work with business units to develop solutions and capabilities, understand data requirements and develop tools and models such as segmentation, decision aids and business case analyses to support Home and Community Ensure alignment, investments and prioritization of data efforts with Tech, Product, Compliance, Privacy, Legal, Security and Enterprise data strategy; balance immediate needs with long-term governance and value Collaborate with delivery and functional teams to identify and mitigate technical debt and enhance data architecture for a best-in-class acquisition framework Provide expert recommendations, consultations and technical guidance to optimize system performance, reliability, and reusability within budgetary constraints Create specifications to bring data into a common structure, develop data solutions to support analyses, analytics and reporting, interpret results and present actionable insights for Home and Community Participate in analysis, evaluation and development of data environments aligned with long-term business objectives and growth Conduct rigorous research to define current states, identify gaps, and devise solutions for complex challenges Monitor alignment with HealthCare Industry standards (e.g., HITRUST, HIPAA, CMS Guidelines, FHIR) and adapt as needed Follow Enterprise architectural standards and governance with partners and teams Required Qualifications 10+ years of experience producing and/or maintaining business and/or data requirements 7+ years of experience managing or working on large-scale data projects/modernization efforts across cross-departmental teams 5+ years in modern development, cloud and integration design patterns and architectures 5+ years of experience with HealthCare data topics (e.g., ARRA/HITECH, GDPR, HIPAA, HL7, FHIR) and CMS Interoperability regulations 5+ years of documenting data components (architecture flows, data modeling, data lineage) 5+ years of experience working with HealthCare data (Administrative, Clinical, Pharmacy) Effective communication to document data findings to diverse stakeholders; able to work independently in a team Proven ability to learn and work with complex HealthCare data sets Strong written, verbal and presentation skills with leadership Critical thinking, problem-solving, time management, analytical and creative mindset Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and accountability for hand-offs Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly Ability to work creatively and flexibly both independently and as part of a team Preferred Qualifications Experience with software engineering technologies such as JSON, Python, Terraform, Databricks Experience in HealthCare on the provider/clinical side supporting member journeys Experience delivering enterprise change and transformation programs using technology to support business/data operations Knowledge of agile methodologies Understanding of Security, Privacy and regulations for PHI/PII Experience leveraging enterprise-approved AI tools to enhance productivity and automate tasks Ability to evaluate emerging trends for continuous improvement and strategic innovation Understand the HealthCare market and how Home and Community can drive outcomes Remote-work policy compliance per UnitedHealth Group requirements Salary and Benefits Pay is based on factors including local labor markets, education, experience and certifications. In addition to salary, benefits include a comprehensive package, incentive/recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contributions (eligibility applies). The listed salary range is from $132,200 to $226,600 annually for full-time employment. We comply with minimum wage laws where applicable.
