Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be tentatively referred and selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved medical school. Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited program leading to eligibility for board certification. Enrolled residents in accredited programs are eligible to be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed physicians but only have a scope of practice under supervision. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical requirements include periods of long standing, occasional lifting, long sitting periods, and the ability to handle stressful situations with high accuracy. Duties
Lead and manage a major specialty program or programs at a multi-division facility. Manage staffing, work assignments, budgets, and treatment services. Coordinate data management, program evaluation, and administrative responsibilities. Responsible for clinical and administrative functions within the designated service line. Work schedule: 0730-1600.
