Western North Carolina Community Health Services (WNCCHS) provides patient-centered, team-based primary care to residents of Western North Carolina. We are looking for a full-time, 40 hour per week, Nursing Supervisor to join our growing team!

The Nursing Supervisor provides a vital link between nursing staff and management, enabling teams to work together to provide superior quality of care for patients. By leading, mentoring, and managing a team of nurses, they ensure that patient safety and satisfaction is a priority. As a highly skilled professional with multiple responsibilities, nursing supervisors play a significant role in promoting a positive environment for both staff and patients.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of nursing principles, as well as dedication to collaboration and quality. They will work closely with the Health Center Director (HCD) to ensure that all clinical operations are running smoothly and efficiently within their team. These services are needed at our primary location

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management Duties (40%)

Supervises, motivates, coaches, guides, mentors, and regularly provides performance feedback to assigned clinical staff. In collaboration with HCD, takes part in the hiring, training and orientation of all new nursing staff and works to develop each staff member in a positive way, leading by example. Maintains RN daily/weekly schedule, while collaborating with the HCD (Health Center Director) to plan, schedule and organize work for nursing staff ensuring proper distribution and delegation of work and efficient use of staff, space, and facility. Promotes a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures, holding safety huddles, and following high reliability principles. Maintains close communication with providers in assigned pods to understand and ensure their needs are met by support staff or to resolve individual patient issues proactively. Recommends changes to improve quality and delivery of care. Seeks staff input and develops and implements processes to enhance clinic operations and improve efficiency. Cultivates exemplary customer service throughout the organization using AIDET principles and coaches staff to use AIDET as part of their daily interactions. Assesses the environment of care and makes recommendations to ensure the best patient comfort, safety, and compliance with regulatory bodies (OSHA, HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration), etc.). Oversees staff competencies for laboratory point of care testing in assigned pods, ensuring compliance with procedures and all regulations.

Educational Duties (20%)

Works closely with Health Center Director and Clinical Operations Supervisor to discuss areas in which assigned staff need added training and mentoring. Act as primary RN to sign off on skills checklists for Medical Assisting Staff. Collaborate with the Clinical Operations Manager to aid clinical training needs and annual competency sign offs.

Floor Coverage Duties (40%):

Serves in a clinical capacity. Perform patient visits and phone triage to always ensure adequate coverage of nursing support. Promotes education for patients, patient families and the community; takes part in direct patient care activities as a strategy for role modeling to staff or assessing current operations, leads problem solving and support for team members, feedback, active listening, and conflict resolution. At times, provides coverage when Medical Assisting Staff is short staffed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to hold staff accountable; planning, prioritization, and time management. Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities Active Listening, effective communication; finding and recruiting top talent. Teambuilding, conflict management Effective communication skills and ability to motivate staff in a positive manner. Excellent knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and techniques Proficient in using healthcare software and electronic medical records systems.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

Licensure/Certification:

Valid license to practice nursing in the state of North Carolina &BLS certification

Experience:

Three years of nursing experience and 2 years experience in a supervisory or managerial role in healthcare setting.
