Medical Director
The Medical Director will provide general medical direction and supervision for patient care. This pivotal role involves overseeing care delivery, clinical outcomes, and implementing quality improvement initiatives. You will lead a dynamic team, ensuring adherence to medical policies, procedures, and protocols. Your expertise will guide primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, nursing staff, and allied health services to deliver high-quality patient care. Oversee patient care delivery and ensure positive clinical outcomes. Provide medical guidance and supervision for all medical services activities. Lead the development and maintenance of medical policies, procedures, guidelines, and protocols. Ensure the development and implementation of clinical standards, medical practice guidelines, and protocols. Oversee the Quality Improvement (QI) Plan and ensure quality of care through corrective actions. Participate in oversight, training, and education of the care team. Coordinate performance appraisals for primary care physicians. Develop educational programs to enhance provider skills. Manage communication with the provider network in collaboration with the Contract Manager. Represent the organization to external agencies, professional groups, and regulatory bodies. Demonstrate necessary skills and competencies as outlined in the position requirements. Oversee two facilities and manage a balance of 75% administrative and 25% clinical duties. Oversee three sites. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
M.D. or D.O. with current state license and DEA registration. Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Practice; advanced geriatrics certification preferred. Minimum 3 years in a lead administrative role. Experience in a managed care environment, collaborating on utilization, quality management, performance improvement, pharmacy, peer review, credentialing, and physician leadership. At least 1 year experience working with frail or elderly populations preferred; training available if not. Valid drivers license, reliable transportation, auto insurance. Medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations. Successful background check including Medicare/Medicaid exclusions, criminal history, education, license, references, and drug screening. Desired Qualifications:
Strong verbal, written, and public speaking skills. Knowledge of physical, mental, and social needs of frail older adults. Skills in physical assessment and chronic disease management. Ability to work collaboratively in a team. Proficient in basic computer skills. Strong organizational skills, dependable, flexible, resourceful.
