An immediate opening is available for skilled Sign Language Interpreters to work in an elementary school environment in Biloxi, Mississippi, for the 2025/2026 school year. This contract position involves providing direct support to general education students on a one-to-one basis, facilitating effective communication and learning within the classroom.

Responsibilities: Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa to support 2nd, 4th, and 5th-grade students. Work closely with general education teachers to ensure accessibility of instructional content. Provide in-person interpretive services for approximately 35 hours per week. Assist students in engaging fully in classroom activities and social interactions. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. Qualifications: Valid RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification, or EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.0 or higher, or Mississippi Quality Assurance (QA) license for interpreters. Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred. Ability to work effectively in an educational setting with diverse student needs. Strong communication skills and patience.
