A K-12 educational institution in Punta Gorda, FL is seeking a dedicated Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students. This full-time position is a 25/26 school year contract designed to support the academic and social development of students with hearing impairments.
Key Qualifications:
Certification or licensure as a Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
Experience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
Strong knowledge of communication methods such as sign language and assistive listening technologies
Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Excellent classroom management and collaborative skills
Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction tailored to students with hearing impairments
Develop and modify curriculum and materials to meet the unique needs of DHH students
Collaborate with general education teachers, speech therapists, and support staff
Conduct assessments and monitor student progress regularly
Facilitate communication access and promote self-advocacy skills
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
