General Liability Associate Attorney (Remote) Job Overview: A law firm based in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Litigation Associate to support its general liability practice with a focus on insurance defense. The position offers an opportunity to work on complex matters across North Carolina and South Carolina. The ideal candidate will possess strong litigation, research, and writing skills and thrive in a fast-paced, team-focused environment. This full-time role includes courtroom exposure, trial preparation, and close collaboration with experienced attorneys. Duties: Conduct detailed file reviews and evaluate legal claims and causes of action Draft briefs, memoranda, pleadings, and appellate documents based on extensive legal research Manage discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests Represent clients during depositions, mediations, hearings, arbitrations, and trials Handle expert witness retention and coordination Prepare for and attend trials Engage in negotiation efforts and participate in settlement discussions Fulfill an annual billable target of 1,950 hours Collaborate closely with attorneys and support staff to ensure efficient case handling Travel as needed for case-related matters

Requirements: Minimum of 2 years of experience in civil litigation with emphasis on insurance defense Proficiency in managing matters from intake through resolution or trial Experience with depositions, including those involving experts and corporate representatives Strong courtroom advocacy and motion practice experience Demonstrated experience participating in mediations and client negotiations Comfortable working independently while maintaining collaboration with team members Responsiveness to client communications and internal inquiries

Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association Certifications: Licensed and in good standing to practice law in North Carolina and South Carolina Skills: Exceptional written and oral communication abilities Strong legal research and analytical capabilities Proactive mindset with effective problem-solving skills Client-oriented demeanor with strong interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Adaptability and willingness to assist team members when necessary
