Job Summary

The Associate Medical Director is responsible for overseeing the care and treatment of patients served by the Hospice Care Groups, in collaboration with the patients attending physician. They determine prognosis and eligibility for hospice services, provide medical guidance to interdisciplinary care team members and volunteers, and ensure high-quality care as measured by AIM metrics, patient/family satisfaction, and other quality indicators. They act as a liaison between the organization, the medical community, and the community at large, advocating for hospice and continuum of care services. Qualifications

Duties and Responsibilities

Education/Regulatory Requirements: Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy Full, unrestricted Florida State License (Chapter 458 or 459 F.S), DEA licensure No sanctions or exclusions by federal or state agencies, and no pending proceedings At least 5 CME credits per licensing cycle in End of Life Care Complete all eight Unipac self-study books and submit post-tests or be certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine Certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine within 30 months of eligibility or possess equivalent experience Skills: Demonstrated ongoing competencies in hospice medical services Knowledge of ethical issues in terminal illness care Background in palliative care, especially symptom management Ability to adapt patient care plans to individual needs, beliefs, and values Valid Florida Drivers license, reliable vehicle, good driving record, automobile insurance, basic knowledge of the county territory Professional Requirements: Sensitivity to psychological, spiritual, and sociological needs of hospice patients and families Excellent verbal and written communication skills, public speaking, and community involvement Language Skills: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
