Your Role as an English Teacher:
- Deliver Rigorous Instruction – Teach high school English courses, including Advanced Placement (AP), honors, and standard-level classes for 11th and 12th grade students.
- Differentiate for Student Success – Design and implement engaging lessons for small class sizes (typically 6:1), adapting instruction to meet individual learning needs.
- Support Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) – Write IEPs, collect progress-monitoring data, and implement accommodations to support student growth.
- Collaborate Across Teams – Partner with teachers, Life Coaches, and related service providers to ensure a consistent and supportive academic and emotional environment.
- Engage with Families – Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to share progress, provide strategies, and support home-school consistency.
- Model Professionalism & Growth – Participate in professional development, team meetings, and continuing education. Ensure student safety, follow compliance guidelines, and contribute to a culture of care and excellence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Valid Connecticut State Certification in English (015) or equivalent required; Special Education (165) endorsement preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably with special education student populations.
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and IEP processes.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative teaching style.
