About this Job

The Operational Development Section consists of the Planning and Research Units. The Section functions as staff for Colonel Robert P. Hodges.

The Planning Unit is tasked with producing the Strategic Plan, Operational Plan, and the management of numerous federal grants. The Research Unit is responsible for the development of policy and procedure, legislative concerns, general research, and numerous special projects.

Another proud accomplishment of the Section is the ongoing process of updating and revising all departmental forms and documents. This project includes the removal of unnecessary forms and the updating of existing forms and documents as needed to comply with additional mandates and legislative actions. Many forms are being converted into an electronic format that will be accessible on the intranet, which will help to improve the efficiency of the department and allow for electronic storage and dissemination.

The Administrative Assistant 4 will provide secretarial support for a high-level manager or low- to mid-level administrator, and in some cases, subordinate staff of that individual.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of experience in administrative services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

-Acts as Administrative Assistant and aide to the Commander.

-Receives and screens all callers for Operational Development, Professional Standards, Compliance, and Public Affairs.

-Serves as liaison between supervisor and staff members.

*Reviews, sorts, and disseminates mail to the appropriate personnel within the section and independently responds to requests requiring the attention of the Commander.

-Prepares materials needed for meetings, such as agendas, handouts, binders, etc.

-Coordinates the maintenance of the Commander's administrative, personnel, and general files.

-May type contracts, secure appropriate signatures, and track contracts through the approval process.

Position Specific Details :

This vacancy is located in the Operational Development Section in the Office of State Police, located in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Appointment Type: This posting may be used to fill a probational appointment, a job appointment, or a promotional appointment.

Compensation: This position pays an hourly rate ranging from $15.76 to $27.01.
