About this Job
The Operational Development Section consists of the Planning and Research Units. The Section functions as staff for Colonel Robert P. Hodges.
The Planning Unit is tasked with producing the Strategic Plan, Operational Plan, and the management of numerous federal grants. The Research Unit is responsible for the development of policy and procedure, legislative concerns, general research, and numerous special projects.
Another proud accomplishment of the Section is the ongoing process of updating and revising all departmental forms and documents. This project includes the removal of unnecessary forms and updating existing forms and documents as needed to comply with additional mandates and legislative actions. Many forms are being converted into an electronic format that will be accessible on the intranet which will help to improve the efficiency of the department and allow for electronic storage and dissemination.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
All visitors are treated in a positive and pleasant manner. Information such as directions to a department, agency, and employee locations is given accurately.
Processes routine paperwork and/or enters data into a department log or database in the servicing of a customer.
Develops procedures and guidelines related to the imaging of documents; maintains a log of imaged files; may serve as lead worker over other imaging positions.
Prepares requisitions for the purchase of supplies; may involve entering information into an automated system.
Compiles information from various sources and prepares specialized reports; formats reports according to department standards.
Accountable for receiving, reviewing, and overseeing the distribution of all incoming and outgoing mail for the building. Directs numerous daily UPS mail deliveries to personnel within the building.
Answer all calls promptly, accurately, and in a friendly and courteous manner. Calls are screened and transferred to the appropriate person. Telephone messages are taken accurately, and calls placed on hold are returned promptly.
May begin performing duties related to traditional administrative functions, such as property control, purchasing, and safety, in addition to other clerical duties as noted above.

Compensation: This position is in Baton Rouge, salary ranges between a minimum of $2387 monthly to a maximum of $4089.00.
