Pay Range:

$69.41 - $116.61 per hour

Summary:

The System AVP of Patient Access provides strategic and operational leadership across the front-end revenue cycle, including registration, insurance verification, prior authorization, patient estimates, and financial counseling. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with CMS Price Transparency, the No Surprises Act, and other evolving mandates while driving standardization and integration across the enterprise. The AVP will create a seamless patient financial experience, reduce risk, and enhance efficiency in an increasingly complex environment. provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of front-end revenue cycle functions across the health system, including Financial Clearance, Financial Counseling, Registration, Patient Estimates, and Authorization Management. This leader is responsible for ensuring that access-related operations are patient-centered, compliant, and financially optimized to support organizational growth and performance.

The AVP collaborates closely with clinical, financial, IT, and administrative stakeholders to deliver high-quality services that enhance patient experience, drive efficiency, and support system integration. This role serves as a key member of the revenue cycle executive leadership team and supports strategic initiatives related to access transformation and digital front door expansion.

Required Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or related field

• Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in revenue cycle operations, with at least 5 years at the director level or above in Patient Access or front-end functions

• Proven success leading large-scale standardization or centralization initiatives across multi-site systems

• Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, payer requirements, and patient access operations

• Excellent leadership, communication, and change management skills

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or related field

• Epic certification or experience in large-scale EHR/Practice Management systems

• Experience leading access transformation or digital front door initiatives

• Demonstrated track record of improving patient experience, front-end collections, and access efficiency

Physical Demands:

• Frequent use of computer, phone, and virtual meeting platforms

• Occasional travel to hospitals and clinic sites across the system

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple strategic priorities simultaneously

Responsibilities:

Access Operations Leadership

Provide system-wide leadership and oversight of all front-end revenue cycle operations across inpatient and ambulatory settings, including registration, pre-registration, insurance verification, financial clearance, and prior authorization.

Develop and implement standardized workflows, policies, and procedures to ensure consistency, compliance, and financial performance across all sites of care.

Lead centralized access functions such as financial counseling and patient estimates to support price transparency and patient financial engagement.

Performance Optimization & Technology Enablement

Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to access, productivity, quality, and patient satisfaction.

Collaborate with IT and digital innovation teams to implement automation, reporting tools, and scheduling improvements that streamline patient intake and support digital transformation.

Apply Lean principles and best practices to enhance operational efficiency and reduce denials at the front end of the revenue cycle.

Collaboration & Strategic Alignment

Serve as a strategic partner to clinical, operational, and finance leaders in aligning access operations with organizational goals and care delivery strategies.

Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve patient flow, reduce revenue leakage, and enhance transparency across scheduling and registration processes.

Represent Patient Access in enterprise decision-making forums and provide regular updates to senior leadership on access-related metrics, risk areas, and performance improvement initiatives.

Team Leadership & Compliance

Lead and develop a high-performing team of directors, managers, and frontline leaders; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Ensure departmental compliance with all federal, state, and payer regulations (including HIPAA, EMTALA, and Price Transparency requirements).

Prepare for and respond to internal and external audits related to access operations and documentation integrity.
