Substation Services Technician
This role involves performing all aspects of substation services, including repair, processing, and testing. You will demonstrate exceptional understanding of transformers, construction operations, and associated controls, both in the shop and in the field. Responsibilities: Perform shop and field transformer testing for Power Factor, Excitation, and resistance readings per NETA/ANSI Standards. Maintain operational mechanical systems, including pump operations, valve operations, and oil processing units. Troubleshoot and test transformers using various methods and testing equipment, including partial installation of transformer components. Conduct acceptance testing and preventative maintenance according to published testing procedures. Operate specialized test equipment, such as Power Factor Tester (DOBLE), Megohmmeters, and AC/DC volt-ohm-millimeters. Travel on overnight, multi-day, out-of-town jobs and work regular overtime, including nights, weekends, and some holidays. Essential Skills: Experience in substation, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting. Field service and installation expertise. Proficiency with hand tools and pneumatic tools. Experience in preventive maintenance and substation design. Additional Skills & Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required. Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical/Electronic Technology preferred. 10+ years of substation work experience preferred. Electrical theory education and/or related experience required.
