The Utilities Department is seeking a skilled and motivated Tradesworker - Water Infrastructure to join our team. This is advanced-level technical and trades work involving the maintenance, repair, and installation of water distribution systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in utility work and a strong understanding of water infrastructure systems. Duties and Responsibilities: Perform complex repairs, maintenance, and installations of water distribution infrastructure. Install, replace, and repair water lines (1"36"), water valves, fire hydrants, and water meters. Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment, including: Track hoes Backhoes Loaders Vac-Con trucks Dump trucks Utilize hand and power tools specific to the trade. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues in the water distribution system. Interpret and work from blueprints, diagrams, and technical sketches. Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and the public. Education, Experience, Licensing: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum six (6) months of relevant work experience in utilities or a related field, such as: Water or sewer systems Natural gas Irrigation Plumbing Electrical Telecommunications installation Licenses & Certifications: Valid Class E Driver's License with a clean driving record. Must possess a Florida Class A Commercial Learner's Permit with Tanker Endorsement prior to receiving a job offer. Must obtain a Florida Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement within 90 days of hire. The Utilities Department will provide training, equipment, and cover all associated costs to help you obtain your CDL. Must complete and pass the DEP Level 3 Water Distribution Operator training course and exam within two years of hire. Additional Requirements: This is a safety-sensitive position and subject to Drug and Alcohol Workplace Testing as per DOT regulation 49 CFR Parts 40 and/or 382.
