Overview: We are seeking a skilled Industrial Controls Engineer to design, implement, and maintain automation and control systems that support our manufacturing operations. This role is critical in ensuring reliable, efficient, and safe production processes through the integration of PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and related industrial automation technologies. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on technical expertise along with problem-solving and project management skills. Key Responsibilities: Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, SCADA, and other control systems for manufacturing equipment and processes.
Develop and maintain control system documentation including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
Lead or support automation projects, from concept and design through installation, commissioning, and optimization.
Collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to diagnose and resolve control system issues quickly.
Ensure compliance with electrical, safety, and industry standards (NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA, etc.).
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve quality.
Provide technical training and support for operators and maintenance personnel on control systems and equipment.
Stay current on emerging automation technologies and recommend upgrades or new solutions to improve operations.
Manage vendor relationships for control system components, integration services, and software support.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of experience with industrial automation and controls in a manufacturing environment.
Strong proficiency with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar), HMI/SCADA systems, and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).
Experience with robotics, motion control, and vision systems a plus.
Solid understanding of electrical and instrumentation systems.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and project management skills.
Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design (AutoCAD Electrical or similar) preferred.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing, walking, and climbing as needed.
Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
Ability to travel to vendor or customer sites as required for projects.
