Job Description Counseling In Schools (CIS) is a dynamic community-based organization founded in 1986 with a mission to promote the emotional and social growth of children so that they can thrive in school and succeed in life. Our expert team includes licensed mental health and youth development professionals who fully integrate into the community, providing programs that equip children, families, teachers, and administrators with the right tools for preventing and coping with the challenges they face. We envision and work toward a bright future, full of possibilities, where each child can flourish and reach their full potential. Counseling in Schools, Inc. (CIS) is seeking applicants to work directly in a NYC 6-12th grade public school, providing afterschool program support to a Community School. CIS is currently interviewing for a Part-time position located in Brooklyn, 11201. Monday-Friday
from 12:30- 5:30pm. Applicants must submit a resume and cover letter. The After-school Assistant supports the program by carrying out tasks that ensure programs run smoothly and we can provide quality services to administration, students, and their families. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a range of activities that will assist this organization's leadership.
Key Responsibilities: After-school Programming Participate in clubs and after-school activities. Distribute snacks to students. Sub for teachers as needed. Monitor attendance reports and logs of daily participation. Make daily phone calls and communication with students and families. Providing administrative support to Community School Director and CIS team. Take accurate and comprehensive notes at meetings. Completing projects as assigned by CSD in a timely manner. Keeping track of receipts. Assisting with filing/scanning, photocopying, and mail projects. Tracking and anticipating office and program needs to order supplies. Schedule meetings and manage calendars. Assist in Planning of community school events
Helping to create fun and engaging activities for students. Promoting social emotional activities and cultural fairs to students and families. Creating flyers, participations. Participation in school-wide events. Qualifications: Required: Strong writing and organizational skills. Proficiency in Word Processing (MS WORD), and Spreadsheets (EXCEL).PowerPoint presentations. Experience with data entry and database system maintenance. Highly creative; skilled multi-tasker, precise attention to detail, and initiator; flexible. Experience working with after-school programs. Experience with middle school and high school students. Works collaboratively in a team-based setting. Commitment to cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor under pressure and operate with a keen sense of urgency and commitment to quality. NYC DOE fingerprints will be required during the hiring process.
