Job Description 1400- Diesel Mechanic September 15th
, 2025 FLSA Classification : Non Exempt Salary
Grade/Level/Family/Range
: Hourly Reports to : Truck Shop Supervisor Job Description Summary/objective Diesel mechanics are responsible for the maintenance and repair of diesel-powered vehicles. Their duties include running diagnostic tests on vehicles, test driving vehicles to gauge performance, and maintaining detailed records of the vehicles they have serviced. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in diesel engines and related systems (brakes, hydraulics, transmissions, etc) Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical or electrical problems Repair or replace faulty parts usingp roper tools and techniques Maintain accurate records of services, repairs, and inspections Keep work environment clean, organized, and well-maintained Assist with roadside repairs or on-site service calls when necessary Adheres to all safety rules, guidelines, and codes. Performs other related duties as assigned. Competencies Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or technician Strong knowledge of diesel engines and mechanical systems Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and tools Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and work orders Physical demands Prolonged periods of standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, etc. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently Ability to work in all weather conditions Supervisory Responsibilities N/A
Travel required As requested by management Required education and experience High School Diploma or equivalent Diesel Technician Certification 2+ years working as a diesel mechanic or technician
