You load raw stock, call up your program, and scan the Siemens 840D display. With a practiced hand you select tooling, align fixtures, perform 3D quickset and probing, and tweak offsets so the first chips fall exactly as planned. You compare the control readout to the print sheet, watching tenths, chasing the surface finish the aerospace print demands. Your first‑article sails through inspection. Setting up simultaneous 5‑axis CNC mills (DMG MORI with Siemens 840D controls) to machine complex aerospace parts to tight tolerances using blueprints and engineering models. Interpreting and adjusting G‑code, running programs, and validating setups for accuracy and finish. Following
control/manufacturing
plans from Engineering for efficient, repeatable setup and operation. Dialing in speeds and feeds; aligning and securing fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and accessories; performing 3D quickset and probing routines. Selecting and installing tooling in tool posts/indexers; optimizing tool life and performance. Monitoring controller readouts and matching them to print sheets to verify dimensional accuracy. Running first‑piece and verifying conformance to specifications per Quality requirements; completing critical dimension sheets. Maintaining 5S and total preventive maintenance; sustaining a clean, safe, organized workspace. Loading/unloading material and parts; calculating complex angles and features as needed. Using digital metrology (calipers, micrometers, etc.) with an emphasis on precision. Other duties as assigned. Bring these qualifications
5+ years of precision CNC mill experience with complex parts; multi‑axis required, simultaneous 5‑axis strongly preferred; prior DMG MORI experience preferred. Proven capability holding tight tolerances (about 0.0002"–0.0005", sometimes tighter); skilled at blueprint reading and digital measurement. Strong preference for Siemens 840D controls experience. Comfortable with shop math and GD basic computer skills. High School Diploma/GED. Bonus points
Associate’s degree or two years of equivalent higher education; or an equivalent mix of
education/experience. Background in precision machine shops with CNC mills/lathes. AS9100 environment experience (strongly preferred). Documented success achieving customer‑specified surface finishes. Compensation Pay is commensurate with experience and our job progression/job hierarchy. The starting rate of pay ranges from $28 - $36, dependent upon experience. Career on‑ramps (apply even if you’re not sure) If you’ve run CNCs and love learning, apply. We also hire CNC Operators on 2nd and 3rd shift (with shift differential). Operator pay has its own scale—entry‑level starts at $20/hour base and progresses toward machinist rates as your skills grow.
