Solid Rock Recruiting is conducting a targeted search for a top-tier
Industrial Automation Engineer
to lead technical innovation and support advanced kiln and process equipment across the globe. Our client is an established leader in industrial automation, known for pushing the boundaries of engineering in high-temperature and heavy-process environments. We are looking for a
hands-on engineering expert
with extensive experience in automation, control systems, and R&D initiatives. If you're passionate about solving complex problems and leading high-impact projects, this opportunity is tailored for you. Your Responsibilities:
Spearhead R&D efforts, blending mechanical, electrical, and control system design.
Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex control and mechanical issues.
Lead onsite commissioning, system startup, and field support for large kiln systems.
Design, program, and refine PLC systems (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley is primary).
Integrate servo systems, VFDs, and advanced industrial networking.
Continuously improve and maintain proprietary control software.
Work directly with operations teams to ensure seamless equipment integration.
Mentor junior team members and contribute to engineering excellence.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Required: B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
10–25 years of industry experience in controls, automation, or industrial systems.
Expertise in PLC programming and industrial automation (Rockwell highly preferred).
Versatile engineering background across both mechanical and electrical domains.
Field-proven experience in troubleshooting, commissioning, and complex system integration.
Familiar with plant operations, equipment servicing, and process optimization.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills—comfortable in customer-facing roles.
Preferred: Background in kiln or furnace systems, or other large-scale process equipment.
Experience leading R&D or innovation teams.
Skills in welding diagnostics, corrosion mitigation, or pressure vessel compliance.
Position Logistics:
Up to 50% travel required—domestic and international.
Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to the Hendersonville, NC area.
Compensation is highly competitive and negotiable based on experience.
