GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION The BehavioralHealth Technician provides direct supervision of Community Health Center (CHC) patients. Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. The Behavioral Health Technician will report directly to the Clinic PracticeManager and is expected to work closely with all clinical, medical, and otherstaff to ensure clients receive comprehensive substance abuse treatmentservices.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES It is the duty andresponsibility of the Behavioral Health Technician to:•ensure clients are compliant while seekingservices at the CHC;•ensure clients are making it to theirappointments on time;•ensure a safe environment for clients;•exercise therapeutic communication skills;•take steps to de-escalate distressed clients;•observe and document client behavior; •monitor clients' physical well-being;•possess adequate skills to assess situationsrelated to relapse and to provide access to appropriate medical care whenneeded; •function as client advocate; •monitor residents to ensure their safety atall times;•receive and pass verbal and written feedbackto clinical, medical, and other staff as requested about client activity andbehaviors;•complete all Incident Reports prior to theend of scheduled shift as required by Incident Policy and Procedure;•complete facility security rounds and ensureall doors and gates are locked and secured when appropriate;•submit shift reports to Clinic PracticeManager throughout shift via email as requested;•contact the Clinic Practice Manager in theevent of a fire or evacuation of the treatment facility as required;•assist with other program functions asrequested by Clinic Practice Manager including but not limited totransportation and monitoring of the front desk; and•perform other duties as required. PHYSICAL DEMANDSMust be able to beon feet and walk around 80-85% of shift to secure facility and superviseclients. Must be able to perform some minor lifting (5-10 lbs.).WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performedthroughout the treatment facility, which is climate controlled. Employees donot have private or personal work space.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMinimumqualifications include the following:•High school diploma or equivalent•Valid Divers License•2 years of Behavioral Health Tech in AcutePsych and substance abuse treatment experience •CPI de-escalation training knowledge •Proficient in MS Office 365 Suite •Excellent written and verbal communicationskills•Candidates in recovery must have 2 plus years of sobriety. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPreferredqualifications include the following:•Bachelor's Degree in related field (social work,psychology, education)•3 plus years of Behavioral Health Techexperience in Acute Psych •Knowledge of Narcotics Anonymous and AlcoholicAnonymous principlesOdyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is an EEO Employer - M/F/Disability/Protected Veteran Status
