Behavioral Health Technician-SoberingCenterJob SummaryOdyssey HouseLouisiana, Inc. is seeking a full-time non-exempt Behavioral Health Technician.Available shifts are Monday-Friday 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am including holidays andweekend rotation. The Behavioral Health Technician provides direct supervisionof the Sobering Center clients in treatment. Behavioral Health Technicians workdirectly with the clients supervising all activities. Behavioral Health techniciansare needed for direct client supervision 24 hours and 7 days per week. AllBehavioral Health Technicians are expected to work closely with all Medical andother Sobering Center staff to ensure clients receive comprehensive substanceabuse treatment services. Responsibilities and DutiesIt is the dutyand responsibility of the Behavioral Health Technician to:•ensure a safe environment for clients;•exercise therapeutic communication skills;•take steps to de-escalate distressed clients;•observe and document client behavior; •assist with therapeutic and recreational activities;•monitor clients' physical well-being;•provide input regarding client progress to the interdisciplinaryteam;•oversee the facility when there are no professional staff on duty;•assess situations related to relapse and to provide access toappropriate medical care when needed; •function as a client advocate; •assist with the planning and organization of therapeutic clientactivities;•monitor residents to ensure their compliance with daily schedulesand their safety at all times;•receive and pass verbal and written feedback about client activityand behaviors to Medical and other Sobering Center staff as requested;•monitor visits from children and family members and providedocumentation as requested by the Program Manager;•monitor and observe clients taking medications as requested byMedical staff or the Program Manager, complete all required documents in theclients charts as instructed, and inform Program Manager and Sobering Centernursing staff of any problems or concerns;•complete all Incident Reports prior to the end of scheduled shiftas required by Incident Policy and Procedure;•conduct Urine Screens and complete all required documentation asrequested;•facilitate and supervise all client feedback meetings; •facilitate and monitor client phone calls; •complete client bed checks every 20 minutes or as requested byProgram Manager and complete required documentation via email during nightruns;•complete facility security rounds and ensure all doors and gatesare locked and secured when appropriate;•submit shift reports to Program Manager throughout shift via emailas requested;•contact Program Manager in the event of a fire or evacuation ofthe treatment facility as required;•perform property searches on all new clients as requested (NOCAVITY SEARCH);•assist with other program functions as requested by ProgramManager including but not limited to transportation of clients and monitoringof the front desk; •assist with providing clients cigarettes as scheduled per shiftrequiring staff to be in a smoking area; and •perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications and Skills Required:Minimumqualifications include the following:•High school diploma or equivalent•Valid LA Driver's License•2 years of Behavioral Health Tech in Acute Psych and substanceabuse treatment experience •Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite •CPI de-escalation training knowledge •Excellent written and verbal communication skillsPreferred:Preferredqualifications include the following:•Bachelor's Degree •3 plus years of Behavioral Health Tech experience in Acute Psych •Knowledge of Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholic AnonymousprinciplesCompensation and BenefitsCompetitive Compensationand Benefits package includes insurance (health, dental, vision, life,long-term and short-term disability), leave benefits and 401k match.Odyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is an EEO Employer - M/F/Disability/Protected Veteran Status
