Job Description BrightPath Behavior is seeking a detail-oriented

Payroll & Accounting Specialist

to manage payroll from start to finish and support key accounting functions. This role ensures employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You’ll also play a critical role in journal entries, monthly accruals, and account reconciliations to support an accurate month-end close in alignment with GAAP standards.

*Must reside in one of the following states: TX, CO, AZ, MI, ID Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

Payroll Management Process biweekly payroll in Paycor and Central Reach, auditing data for accuracy and resolving discrepancies.

Run off-cycle payrolls as needed for adjustments, corrections, and special payments.

Prepare and submit final payroll reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Respond to employee payroll questions with clear, timely communication.

Analyze payroll workflows, identify inefficiencies, and implement process improvements.

Develop, maintain, and communicate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for payroll processes.

Payroll Accounting Record payroll transactions and accruals in QuickBooks in compliance with GAAP.

Maintain and update bonus accruals, reversing them as payouts are made.

Reconcile payroll-related accounts including benefits, deductions, and liabilities.

Partner with HR and benefits providers to resolve discrepancies.

Generate reports on employee benefits, deductions, and payroll data for month-end close.

Required Skills

What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

3+ years of payroll experience (multi-state preferred).

Hands-on experience with Paycor (strongly preferred), Central Reach, QuickBooks Desktop, or NetSuite.

Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and compliance.

Solid accounting background including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.

Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, data analysis, reporting).

Experience developing SOPs and improving payroll/accounting processes.

Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
