MedStar Health is seeking an experienced HR leader to serve as Assistant Vice President of Human Resources (AVP HR), driving transformation across our Baltimore-area hospitals through a shared delivery model. The AVP HR is a strategic leader who aligns HR strategies with organizational goals across the system. Operating in a matrixed environment, you will drive workforce planning, ensure excellence in HR service delivery, and oversee HR Business Partners and managers. Under the guidance of the Vice President of Human Resources, the AVP HR develops and executes HR strategy while leading teams that support multiple regions or locations. This role partners with the VP HR and executive leadership on business operations and human capital initiatives, provides input on annual budgets and operating plans, and holds decision-making authority to help shape policies, procedures, and high-level workforce strategies.

Responsibilities
Lead and execute HR strategy across a system of hospitals and locations in a matrixed environment. Drive workforce planning, succession planning, talent assessment, change management, and HR service delivery excellence. Oversee HR Business Partners and managers, and collaborate with the VP HR and executive leadership on business operations and human capital initiatives. Contribute to annual budgets and operating plans; participate in shaping policies, procedures, and high-level workforce strategies. Partner with senior leadership to implement HR programs that support organizational goals and improve patient care outcomes.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration, Labor or Industrial Relations, or related discipline required
Work Experience
- 10+ years in Human Resources in a large-scale, multi-site, matrixed organization. Experience with workforce development, succession planning, talent assessment, and change management required
- 5-7 years of management experience required

Compensation & Benefits
Base pay range: $177,340.00/yr - $322,836.00/yr
